June provides CURE members a variety of outdoor experiences. Beginning Wednesday, June 8th CURE is partnering with the MN Master Naturalist program and hosting an Invasive Blitz Volunteer Training at the Upper Sioux Agency State Park. This training will highlight working with buckthorn, garlic mustard and wild parsnip.
June 11th is National Get Outdoors Day and the MN DNR is continuing the “River-in-a-Day” program and CURE will be partnering with the Water Trails Program to cover significant stretches in the Upper Minnesota River. There are three official locations – Marsh Lake to Lac qui Parle Bridge 119 (includes a paddle out to the Pelican Rookery), Kinney Landing to Skalbekken County Park and Skalbekken County Park to Vicksburg County Park.
Tuesday, June 14th the national “Keep the Hive Alive!” tour will be stopping at Moonstone Farm just outside of Montevideo for an evening presentation. The event is open to the public but an R.S.V.P. is requested. This evening will highlight what is happening at a national level as wells as a state and local level. Sure to be an evening of engaging dialogue and learning!!
June 13 – 17, CURE is hosting a Minnesota Master Naturalist week long training for the Prairies & Potholes biome (region). We are very excited to report that this week long class filled earlier this spring but we will be offering this course again next year. It is taught in a variety of formats from an 11 week course to the current week long offering.
