Why have you chosen to serve on the CURE Board?
I have chosen to serve on the CURE board because it is an opportunity for me to contribute to an organization that is doing what I can’t do by myself. It allows me to offer my knowledge and skills where, I hope, they can be used to benefit everyone from the headwaters of the watershed to the Gulf of Mexico. I appreciate the creeks, streams, and rivers of the valley, and this is how I have chosen to say ‘thank you’.
Tell us about your vocation/profession.
I am a county prosecutor for Renville County, MN. I moved to the area for work, leaving behind the biking, fishing, and canoeing opportunities of southeast Minnesota, so I needed to find a new recreational outlet. I am an avid canoeist and kayaker and discovered the joys of paddling the Minnesota River Valley and fell in love with the area. Also, I am a Minnesota Master Naturalist.
I received my BA from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, and my J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, MN.
Fun Fact(s).
During the summer, I can often be seen riding my motorcycle to and from work. I get a lot of strange looks since not that many folks ride a motorcycle in a coat and tie and always with a helmet.
