UPDATE: MN Power Sale to BlackRock

Minnesota Public Utilities Commission Hearing

On October 3rd, the MN Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved the sale of ALLETE/Minnesota Power to private equity interests. This decision went against the recommendation of an Administrative Law Judge, the PUC’s own staff analysis, CURE testimony, and pleas of Minnesota residents.

CURE is thankful to everyone who shared this story, showed support, and submitted comments to the PUC. The fight for public power and a clean energy future isn’t over. Read more about the PUC decision here

CURE’s Sarah Mooradian is speaking at a Women’s Press event, “Let’s Talk About Data Centers & Water Usage,” Thurs, Nov 13, at 6:30 pm in Minneapolis, with a Duluth livestream of the event! Learn more here.

CURE’s friends at the Three Waters Pipeline Resistance Team (PRT) & COPAL are teaming up to host a weekend-long organizing training on movement building for climate action in Minneapolis, Nov 7-9. CURE is helping support the volunteer-led Three Waters PRT in this national effort. If you want to plug into environmental justice work, this training is for you. RSVP required, here

CURE was part of a coalition of nine Minnesota groups that asked the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) to regulate ag drainage. Over 400 Minnesotans signed coalition petitions calling for action to protect our state’s water. However, yesterday, the MPCA issued its decision not to grant the petition for rulemaking.
