Tell Lawmakers to Stop the Wasteful 45Q Carbon Tax Credit!
Right now, as Republican lawmakers in Congress are working on the Budget Reconciliation process, Reps. Perry (R-PA) and Khanna (D-CA) have introduced a new bill (H.R. 1946) to end the 45Q tax credit for carbon capture. The 45Q tax credit wastes billions of taxpayer dollars, puts people in danger, and continues to prop up a fundamentally flawed, unreliable technology.
When 45Q started in 2008, it was supposed to help reduce CO2 emissions and store carbon safely. But instead, it has helped the fossil fuel industry produce evn more oil by fracking the remnant oil from older wells (aka Enhanced Oil Recovery).
