Congress is debating a sweeping bill that fast-tracks dangerous pipelines, guts public oversight, and hands out tax breaks to polluters. We need your voice now to stop it.
👉 Some background on what is happening with & why groups like CURE are so concerned.
The so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” passed the U.S. House of Representatives and is now headed to the Senate. This is a sprawling budget bill that makes drastic cuts to essential services while being loaded with corporate giveaways that reads like a wish list from pipeline and industry lobbyists and their billionaire investors.
The good news? Our calls and emails are working.
Because of the public uproar, one of the most dangerous provisions that would have let CO2 and oil pipeline companies ram through their permits while preempting local and state protections has been stripped from the House bill.
But we have to keep the pressure on. As the bill heads to the Senate, a number of other industry giveaways remain, including:
- Keeping the 45Q carbon capture tax credit intact, despite a record of widespread fraud and abuse.
- Expanding tax shelters for the carbon capture industry and other extractive industries.
- Creating new “pay-to-play” options that would let the richest companies fast-track review and permitting of pipelines and other large polluting projects.
Support for 45Q subsidies appears to be gaining momentum, so it is important that you call your U.S. Senators TODAY.
We need voices from across the country – individuals like you on the frontlines of these projects, farming and landowner groups, climate and environmental advocates, and public interest watchdogs – to speak out now.
If we don’t, Congress will let billionaires and polluters manipulate the rules in their favor yet again.
